Configuring your computer and Internet Explorer for the MWE Portal and CardiffMail Web
If you are accessing CardiffMail Web or the MWE portal from off campus via Internet Explorer you may be receiving a series of warning
messages about mixed content and trusted sites. To prevent these messages from continually popping up you can download and install a
small Windows installer file (msi file) which adds a series of trusted sites to your browser settings and enables the Active X controls
needed to ensure CardiffMail and the MWE Portal function properly. Please follow the instructions below to download and install the msi
file:
- Go to Contol Panel > Add/ Remove Programs and uninstall DWA8 if it is present.
- Right-click on this file link and select Open.
- In the dialog box click Run.
- Click Next and on the Licence Agreement page select Accept.
- Accept all further default options by clicking Next several times, then click Install. Please note that Windows Vista will tell you that it doesn’t trust the program – click Allow in this instance.
- The program will install all necessary components. Click Finish to complete the installation and exit.
- Finally, for the settings to take effect you must close and restart Internet Explorer. Failure to restart Internet Explorer will result in unexpected performance of CardiffMail and the MWE Portal.
